Senn Ferrero Asociados was once again present at the World Football Summit, which celebrated its tenth anniversary in Madrid with what its organisers consider their biggest edition to date. Over two days, La Nave brought together more than 2,500 attendees from over 80 countries, with LALIGA and J.P. Morgan as Main Partners. The programme featured more than 130 speakers and over 40 sessions, covering the key issues facing the industry: the arrival of institutional capital in club ownership, the pressure on FIFA’s governance, the consolidation of women’s football as a business, and the transformation of stadiums, ticketing and the fan experience.
A new award, presented by Senn Ferrero
To mark the tenth anniversary of the programme, three new categories were created, among them “A Career Honouring the Essence of the Game”, presented by Senn Ferrero. The award recognises the football professional – whether player, coach, manager or executive – whose career has combined excellence with the values and integrity that define the sport. Unlike the other categories, this one is chosen directly by the jury, with no public shortlist stage. At the awards ceremony, Vicente del Bosque received the first WFS Award for a Career Honouring the Essence of the Game, presented by Senn Ferrero, for a coaching career that includes winning the World Cup with Spain. It is hard to imagine a first recipient who better embodies the spirit of the category. At the same ceremony, Michele Kang won the Best Executive award, becoming the first woman to do so.
