One of the most well-rounded and accomplished lawyers specializing in sports law of his generation in Mexico. A graduate of Universidad Anáhuac México Norte with a Master’s in International Sports Law from the Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía in Madrid, José María built his career at leading firms, including Martínez, Algaba, De Haro y Curiel and Creel, García-Cuéllar, Aíza y Enríquez in Mexico, and Senn Ferrero Asociados in Spain, where he developed a genuinely international legal perspective with deep expertise in the acquisition and financing of sports entities, transfer transactions and arbitration proceedings before bodies such as the FMF, FIFA and CAS. He has acted as counsel in landmark industry transactions, including the sale of Real Valladolid and Club Deportivo Leganés in Spain, and recently led the acquisition of the Gallos Blancos de Querétaro by a group of American investors.
